2021 marked the launch of the very first Up & Comer Awards.
Where It All Began
What started as a simple idea quickly became something far bigger than we ever imagined. The Up & Comer Awards were created to recognise talent, reward passion and create opportunities for DJs, MCs and producers across the underground music scene.
Built on fairness rather than popularity, the awards gave artists from a wide range of genres the opportunity to be judged on their ability—not their following. From day one, our mission has been to celebrate genuine talent and provide a platform where everyone has the chance to be recognised.
The artists recognised during that first year helped shape the foundations of everything that followed. Many have gone on to perform at major events, release music, and continue making their mark on the underground scene, proving that dedication and passion deserve recognition.
Today, the awards have evolved into the Music Recognition Awards, but our vision remains unchanged—to celebrate outstanding talent, support the music community, and create opportunities based on merit.
