The Music Recognition Awards was created to celebrate the people who keep music alive. From DJs, MCs and producers to the artists pushing boundaries in every corner of the UK music scene, our mission is simple: to recognise talent, passion and dedication, regardless of experience, age or profile.

We believe great music deserves recognition. Too many talented people are overlooked because they don't have major industry backing or a large online following. The Music Recognition Awards exists to change that by providing an inclusive platform where ability, creativity and commitment take centre stage.

Originally launched as the Up & Comer Awards, the event evolved following feedback from artists and the wider music community. The rebrand to the Music Recognition Awards better reflects our vision of recognising excellence across the underground music scene, whether someone is just beginning their journey or has spent decades perfecting their craft.

The Music Recognition Awards is proudly part of the Twisted Group, an independent organisation dedicated to supporting the underground music community through its network of brands and initiatives. Alongside the Awards, the Twisted Group includes Twisted Magazine, Twisted Recordz, Twisted Radio, Twisted Events and other projects that work together to champion artists, promote creativity and strengthen the independent music scene.

Our awards celebrate a wide range of talent, with categories dedicated to DJs, MCs and producers across multiple genres. Every entry is judged on its own merit by experienced industry professionals, ensuring a fair, transparent and respected process.

More than just an awards event, we are building a community that encourages opportunity, collaboration and respect within music. We are proud to support diversity, inclusivity and accessibility, welcoming participants from all backgrounds and abilities.
